Rifle Looks for Back-to-Back Conference Championships over the Weekend

BIRMINGHAM - The UAB rifle team looks to win its second consecutive Southern Conference championship on Saturday and Sunday in Statesboro, Ga. as it competes in the SoCon Championship.
"I'm looking forward, and I know that our team is too, to the conference championship," head coach Lori Goodwin said. "It is going to be a test against great competition and we are prepared for the challenge."
The event will feature UAB, The Citadel, North Georgia, Georgia Southern, VMI and Wofford. The Blazers won the smallbore and overall titles last season, while Georgia Southern notched the top score in air rifle.
Saturday's portion of competition features smallbore and is set to begin at 7 a.m., while Sunday features air rifle and is scheduled for a 6:45 a.m. start time.
