BIRMINGHAM – The UAB Department of Athletics has announced a home-and-home football series with the University of Louisiana for 2023 and 2026.
UAB will host the first contest on Sept. 16, 2023 in Birmingham and will then play at Louisiana on Sept. 19, 2026 in Lafayette.
The Blazers and Ragin' Cajuns have met six times previously with UAB holding a 4-2 advantage. The two teams played four consecutive years from 1995-98 and also squared off in 2000 and 2002.
UAB is 14-12 all-time against teams from the Sun Belt Conference with Louisiana being its second most common opponent only behind Troy. The Blazers most recently faced a Sun Belt opponent in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl versus Appalachian State.
Louisiana finished 11-3 overall last season with its only three loses coming against Mississippi State and Appalachian State (twice). The Ragin' Cajuns defeated Miami (OH) in the LendingTree Bowl, 27-17.
The Blazers enter 2020 with 18 returning starters and have won back-to-back C-USA West Division titles. UAB is 28-13 overall since returning to action in 2017, which is the most wins of any C-USA school during that time frame. Season tickets are on sale by clicking here.
