Blazers Travel to Tennessee For First Road Game

BIRMINGHAM- The UAB women's basketball team is looking to earn its first road victory of the season when it travels to Chattanooga, Tenn. on Sunday afternoon. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m. CST on ESPN+.
This is the first time the Blazers (1-0, 0-0 C-USA) will play since their 80-57 home-opener win over Edward Waters on Nov. 25.
As a result of COVID-19, the team's scheduled Nov. 29 matchup against Tennessee Tech was canceled.
UAB's Last Game
In the season-opener against Edward Waters, Margaret Whitley, Sam Mitchell and Audrey Jordan all made their first career-starts.
As a team, UAB shot 43.1 percent (28-for-65) and 29.6 percent (8-for-27) from behind the arc.
Whitley led the UAB offense, scoring a career-high 23 points and making four assists. On defense, Zakyia Weathersby dominated, recording a team-high nine rebounds.
12 Blazers saw the court and 10 scored against the Tigers.
Scouting Chattanooga
This will be Chattanooga's first game of the season due to COVID-19 cancelations and rescheduling.
The Mocs return three starters and three of their top five scorers from a year ago.
Chattanooga ended last season with an 11-18 record, finishing third in the SoCon.
Blazers vs. Mocs Series
The last time the two schools met was when UAB hosted the WNIT on Mar. 15, 2018 in Bartow Arena.
Four Blazers scored in double-digits in that matchup, leading to a 70-60 Blazer win and breaking an eight-game losing streak to the Mocs.
The last five games between UAB and Chattanooga have been decided by 10 points or less. Chattanooga holds a 15-20 advantage in the all-time series.
In his seven seasons as the Blazers' head coach, Norton's teams have a 5-3 record against SoCon opponents.
