ESPN Events Cancels 2020 Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl

BIRMINGHAM – Due to South Carolina withdrawing from Saturday's game, the 2020 Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl at Raymond James Stadium has been canceled.
The Blazers' 2020 season comes to an end with UAB finishing as Conference USA Champions and a 6-3 overall record.
UAB had another record setting year by becoming the first team in Conference USA history to win three straight divisional titles. UAB then defeated Marshall 22-13 in the C-USA title game and is the only team to win a Conference USA title on the road, something the Blazers have done twice.
Spencer Brown finished the season as one of only two active players in the country to rush for 4,000 career yards. UAB finished 10th nationally in total defense and has now ranked top 10 nationally in total defense for a third straight year.
"The current environment has presented many challenges," said Scott Glaser, executive director. "We looked into a number of options for UAB, but ultimately could not identify any opportunities for them to play at this time. We are appreciative of the many supporters in the community, including our new title sponsor – Union Home Mortgage, and look forward to staging the game in 2021."
Tickets purchased for the Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl will be refunded automatically by Etix, and could take up to five business days depending on banking institutions.
