BIRMINGHAM- 10 Blazers scored in UAB women's basketball's season-opening 80-57 win over Edward Waters College on Wednesday morning at Bartow Arena.
Junior Margaret Whitley led the team with a career-high 23 points, shooting 7-of-11 from the field and making four baskets from behind the arc.
"Finally getting back to being competitive and competing is the best feeling ever," Whitley said. "It was really thrilling and I couldn't be more thankful."

UAB had a strong offensive first quarter to open the game, led by senior Zakyia Weathersby and Whitley who both had five points apiece.
