Blazer Men’s Tennis Wraps Up Play at Gridiron Classic

MACON, Ga. - The UAB men's tennis team completed play at the opening event of the fall season, the Gridiron Classic, hosted by Mercer, on Sunday afternoon.
The Blazers were paired with Troy to create a combination team for the entirety of the tournament.
Day one of the event saw UAB win two singles matches, as Giovani Pasini overcame Georgia Southern's Carlos Garcia, 6-2, 7-6 (6), before Parker Bradbary claimed another Blazer win over the Eagles with a 6-7 (6), 7-6 (8), 6-4 victory over Jaap Aaldering. Chase Parker faced GSU's Chase Arevalo, but fell, 6-3, 2-6, 6-3.
The Blazers did not win a doubles match on Friday, but came back string in doubles on Saturday and Sunday, as Pasini and Bradbary defeated South Alabama's Julian Evrard and Sebastien Collard, 8-4, on day two before the same pairing took down Georgia Southern's Jonathan Morales and Garcia, 8-6.
The Green and Gold faced South Alabama in singles on Sunday, but did not come away with a win.
UAB will return to action on the courts on Friday as the Blazers take part in the Buck Bouldin Battle of the Boro, hosted by Middle Tennessee.
