Overseas Update – Will Butler
10/23/2020 11:46:00 AM | Men's Basketball
Former UAB forward Will Butler has signed a contract with Levitec Huesca of the Liga Española de Baloncesto league in Spain. Butler inked his deal earlier this month
In his two seasons as a Blazer, Butler averaged 8.0 points per game while converting 59.9% of his shots. His 2019-20 season highlight was going back-to-back 18 and 17 points in road victories against UTSA and UTEP. In those two contests, he shot a combined 16-for-23. Butler also scored 19 points against Middle Tennessee and followed that with a career-high 20 points against the Blue Raiders in Murfreesboro in the home-and-home games.
"With Will's arrival, we have managed to have what we wanted with our inside game - a lot of versatility with rebounding capacity on both sides of the court," said Levitec Huesca sports director David Gros.
Head coach David Gomez said, "Will is a player with an imposing physique, who runs the field very well and meets the needs we had in this position for our team. With his defensive rebound he should give us that extra physical degree to compete to the maximum."
Levitec Huesca opens has its home opener tonight against Real Murcia.
