Women’s Golf Returns to Action at Lady Red Wolves Classic

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB women's golf team will play its third fall tournament this Monday and Tuesday as the Blazers travel to Jonesboro, Ark., for the Lady Red Wolves Classic hosted by Arkansas State.
The two-day tournament at Sage Meadows Country Club features 36 holes on Monday and the final 18 on Tuesday. The par 72 course will play 6,565 yards.
Along with UAB and Arkansas State, the field consists of BYU, Central Arkansas, Chattanooga, Houston Baptist, Little Rock, Missouri State, Middle Tennessee, Stephen F. Austin, Southern Illinois, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Troy and WKU.
UAB tees off at 8:30 a.m. led by senior Tia Teiniketo. She will be followed by Shelly Chen, Emilia Smith, Lexie Dawson and Karlee Allen. The Blazers are paired with South Alabama and Houston Baptist on Monday.
The Blazers bring an overall record of 8-6-1 into this week's tournament. UAB is coming off the Hoover Invite in which they tied for fourth place overall with Middle Tennessee.
Teiniketo and Chen led UAB last time out as Teiniketo placed second overall while Chen tied for fourth. These two lead the Blazers with stroke averages of 72.0 and 72.3, respectively.
