UAB Baseball Gears up for Fall Ball

BIRMINGHAM – With October just around the corner, the UAB baseball team has announced its schedule for the fall season. All fall competition will be considered exhibition in preparation for the regular season, which will begin Feb. 14, 2020 as the Blazers host Notre Dame at Regions Field.
The Blazers will start their full-team practice segment this Friday (Sept. 27) and continue on a consistent basis through Nov. 2. UAB will host practices that are open to the public each Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 1:30-4:30 p.m. at J.D. Young Memorial Field. Each Friday will be designated for Intersquad scrimmages at 1:30 p.m. unless there is a special occurrence. Intersquad scrimmages will also be planned each Saturday beginning around noon. The players will be given an off day on most every Tuesday and Sunday outside of special events.
UAB has three different teams coming to J.D Young Memorial Field to get live competition under their belts. The Blazers will first host the Ontario Blue Jays, renowned as Canada's top amateur baseball program, for a game as part of their college tour on Oct. 4 at 2 p.m. Along with the scrimmage, Oct. 4 has been designated UAB's annual Scout Day.
The next opponent the Blazers will host is Mississippi State, who will make the short trip to Birmingham for a 1 p.m. contest on Sunday, Oct. 20.
The final outside competition for UAB during the fall season is a scrimmage against North Alabama set for Saturday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. In the regular season all-time history, the Blazers and Lions are tied 2-2. UAB claimed the last meeting of the two sides with a 15-10 win in Florence, Ala., dating back to the 1985 season.
The Blazers are preparing for the 2020 season after finishing 27-29 last season. UAB concluded the year 18-13 at home and ended the season on a hot streak, winning nine of its last 13 games including wins over Auburn and Southern Miss.
Baseball season tickets are on sale by purchasing the 2019-20 Gold Card for $65. The Gold Card is an exclusive offer that grants you admission into all UAB volleyball, men's and women's soccer, women's basketball, baseball and softball events for the upcoming academic year.
