Dear Blazer Nation,
We hope you are all enjoying a wonderful summer and looking forward to the start of another great year in Blazer Athletics. We wanted to share some exciting news related to our Football Program's future home… Protective Stadium.
As you know, the stadium's groundbreaking was held in December 2018. Shortly thereafter, contractors began moving underground utility lines around the perimeter of the site. For those of you who have been in that area, this has been the cause of many of the road closures.
In June, the conceptual design and site plan for Protective Stadium was unanimously approved by the city of Birmingham's Design Review Committee. A lot of the heavy earth-work on the site began when the BJCC awarded the mass grading bid to CS Beatty Construction Inc. This process will last a few months before the concrete and steel supports begin going into place. During this time, the construction bid should be awarded to a contractor who will complete the stadium leading into the 2021 UAB Football season.
It is important to know that both seating and parking options at Protective Stadium will be allocated based on the Blazer Boosters Priority Points System. If you haven't already done so, I would strongly encourage you to commit to season tickets for the 2019 season and continue to build your priority by becoming a Blazer Boosters member. You can order your season tickets for the 2019 season by clicking here or by calling the UAB Athletics Ticket Office at 205-975-UAB1. Fans can also request more information on ticket options for the upcoming season here.
Protective Stadium will be a tremendous step forward for everyone who lives in or near the City of Birmingham. This will be a once in a lifetime opportunity, so don't miss out on getting the best seats possible.
Thanks to all of you for your support. We couldn't have gotten here without you!
Go Blazers!
