THREE TAKEAWAYS:
- In the midst of the hottest stretch of the summer, temperatures this morning reached the high 90s but the UAB trainers, dietitians and coaching staff have done a tremendous job of keeping the Blazers hydrated throughout camp. Along with water and Gatorade always readily available, the Blazers take scheduled breaks throughout practice to rehydrate at a fueling station which has pickles and pickle juice shots, along with a full assortment of fruits and snacks to keep the players going. Despite being in full pads, there were minimal cramping issues on Tuesday.
- Fitzgerald Mofor and Kris Moll are the two leading returning tacklers and occupy the linebacker position, but a few additional names at linebacker have had solid camps in Kobe Griffin, Luke Brasher and Noah Wilder. The linebacker unit is one that could have depth to it in 2019.
- Tight ends will once again be an integral part of the Blazers' offense in both the run and pass game. Hayden Pittman is a proven commodity, while Gerrit Prince appeared in four games last year before utilizing the redshirt rule. Redshirt senior Thair Blakes has also proven throughout camp that he is ready for an increased role this season.
