Kuzmanic Takes Home Bronze at Pan Am Games

LIMA, Peru- UAB women's basketball alum Deanna Kuzmanic took home a bronze medal at the Pan American Games in Lima, Peru with the Puerto Rican national team Sunday evening.
Kuzmanic was one of 12 players to make the final cut for the Pan Am Games and played in every game of the tournament. The former Blazer totaled 14:31 of playing time scoring 3 points. She also grabbed two rebounds and one steal.
"Having the opportunity to play basketball is always a blessing but having the opportunity to represent your country is the greatest honor," said Kuzmanic. "I am so proud of my team and grateful we can bring the bronze medal back to Puerto Rico with us."
Puerto Rico opened the Pan Am Games with a 91-73 victory over Paraguay. The next game they fell to the eventual gold medal earners Brazil in a 64-58 contest. They rounded out the preliminary round with a 72-63 win over Canada, placing them through to the medal rounds.
In the medal round Puerto Rico fell in a close 62-59 decision to the United States sending them into the bronze medal game against Colombia. The 66-55 win over Colombia secured them the bronze medal, their first medal in women's basketball since the 2011 Pan Am games where they took home gold.
