UAB and New Mexico State Sign Home-and-Home for 2020, 2025

BIRMINGHAM – The reigning Conference USA champion UAB football team and New Mexico State have signed a home-and-home series beginning in 2020, the two universities announced on Tuesday.
The Blazers are scheduled to host the first contest between the two sides in program history on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2020, in UAB's final home opener at Historic Legion Field. The Aggies will host the next matchup on Sept. 6, 2025 at Aggie Memorial Stadium in Las Cruces, N.M.
UAB's home opener with New Mexico State adds to the 2020 non-conference schedule that includes a pair of road games in a marquee matchup with Miami (Sept. 19) and an in-state clash at South Alabama (Sept. 26).
The Blazers are currently undefeated against independent schools after beating Army in each of the five contests in program history. UAB's last matchup against Army was a 20-14 victory in West Point, N.Y., on Nov. 20, 2004. The Blazers are 2-0 at home and 3-0 on the road in program history against independent opponents.
New Mexico State was a member of the Sun Belt until joining the WAC in 2005. The Aggies played in the WAC until 2012, competed as an independent in 2013, then rejoined the Sun Belt from 2014-17 before once again going independent.
The Aggies were 3-9 last season and will play the likes of Alabama, Washington State and Ole Miss, along with C-USA opponent UTEP in 2019.
