Beach Volleyball Goes 2-1 on Opening Day of GCU Tournament

PHOENIX – The UAB beach volleyball team improved to 12-11 overall with a pair of 5-0 wins over Utah and Mt. San Antonio College and a 5-0 loss to No. 7 Cal Poly on the opening day of the Grand Canyon Tournament in Phoenix.

UAB's top pair of Jaelyn Keene and Tressa Buckland improved their overall record to 15-8 with two wins today. Following them, Kenley Adams and Jayme Bratsberg paired together for the first time this season on court two and were 2-1 overall, as were SalliAnne Napolitano and Annie Pringle on court three.

For the final two matches of the day, Brittney Munro and Brooke Stancel paired together on court four and went 2-0, while court five saw Jenna Gathright win two matches, one each with teammates Emily Martinez and Emma Andraka.

The Blazers conclude the GCU Tournament on Saturday with matches against Long Beach City College and No. 15 Grand Canyon.
