Beach Volleyball Splits on Final Day of Grand Canyon Tournament

PHOENIX β The UAB beach volleyball team defeated Long Beach City College and lost to host No. 15 Grand Canyon on the final day of the GCU Tournament in Phoenix.

The Blazers (13-12) opened the day with a 5-0 victory over Long Beach City College, and then suffered a 4-1 loss to Grand Canyon in their final match of the weekend.

Against LBCC, the Blazers kept their lineup the same as their final match of yesterday and won in straight sets on courts 1-4, while Emma Andraka and Jenna Gathright won in three sets.

Jaelyn Keene and Tressa Buckland registered UAB's lone victory against GCU and improved their individual records to 17-8 overall, which has tied the single-season school record for wins. The duo is now 11-3 overall together.

The Blazers head to TCU next weekend for their final matches before the CCSA Tournament. Β
