Ribbon Cutting for New Track Scheduled for April 29

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB Department of Athletics is set to host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new track and field facility April 29 at 10 a.m.
The new state-of-the-art facility is located next to BBVA Compass Field and shares a pressbox, concessions stand, bathrooms and ticket booth with the home of UAB soccer. The track will be capable of hosting a diverse mix of meets, including NCAA, conference and high school events.
The facility features an eight-lane Mondotrack surface, with each lane measuring 48 inches in width. Dual straights with discus, javelin and shot put throwing spaces are located in the infield, while a hammer cage and jumps are stationed just outside the oval track.

Parking for the event will be available in the Lot 15F entrance on University Boulevard and 11th Street South.
