BIRMINGHAM - The UAB track and field team completed competition at the Alabama Track Challenge on Friday with Brittany Floyd winning the heptathlon
Floyd's heptathlon was a personal record by 200 points and is currently second in Conference USA.
"We got some good work done at Samford tonight," head coach Kurt Thomas said. "Brittany, Madison and Laci had solid heptathlons."
Zieandrea Bridges broke personal and school records in the hammer throw (48.74 meters), placing fifth, and the shot put (13.66 meters), coming in second place.
Celestial Moon ran a 2:13.34 in the 800 meters, setting a personal record and placing in the top five, coming in fourth while recording the eighth-best time in Conference USA.
"Cele had a great 800 meters and put herself in a great spot for C-USAs and everyone else just had solid competitions," Thomas said.
Ebony Tolliver set the fifth Blazer personal record of the meet in the 100 meter dash, coming in second with a 12.12 and finishing just ahead of teammate Melany Frierson, who notched a third place finish with a 12.23. Tolliver also claimed second place in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.22.
Jabriana Jemison and Kyla Horn finished in second in the 400 meter dash and the 100 meter hurdles, respectively, while Katie Nelson and Britney Johnson both claimed spots in the top five in the mile run.
"The hurdlers raced well and are all close to personal records," Thomas said. "Zieandrea had big throws for some school records and personal records for a huge highlight of the meet. We turn around and get ready for Georgia Tech next weekend before we take a weekend off for finals. We're in a good place and need to stay focused over the next few weeks before the conference championships."
