UAB Athletics to Host Salute To Service Events

BIRMINGHAM - In 2018, UAB Football fans donated over 1,500 tickets to area military for the annual Salute to Service football event. This year's Salute to Service promotions includes both the men's basketball game against Alabama A&M at 7 p.m. on Monday, November 11 and the UAB football game against UTEP on November 16 at 12 p.m.
UAB Athletics has partnered with VetTix as a way to provide complimentary admissions to select events taking place on campus. Veteran Tickets Foundation's Tickets for Troops Program is dedicated to giving back to those who gave us so much. The organization teams up with major sports teams, leagues, promoters, organizations, venues and every day event ticket holders to provide free and discounted tickets to currently serving and veterans of all branches of the US military. The Tickets for Troops program has provided over eight million event tickets across all 50 states and Washington, DC since its inception.
How Fans Can Support the Efforts
To donate to the Tickets for Troops program, fans are invited to purchase a game ticket to either event for just $10. Orders can be placed by calling the UAB Athletics Ticket Office or online using the promo code TFT. Tickets donated for the effort will then be distributed via the VetTix platform to military members and their families.
In addition to donating tickets to area military, UAB fans are invited to share the stories of military service men and women to help us say thanks on game days. Share an image and brief description of a current, veteran or retired military member by completing the Salute to Service Recognition Form. Fans may also email photos to be shared on game day to sportspromo@uab.edu.
Fan submissions received by Monday, November 11 will be shared as part of the Salute to Service game day.
How Military Affiliates Can Request Tickets
Vet Tix provides tickets to all branches of currently-serving Military and Veterans, including immediate family of troops KIA. To request your tickets to UAB Athletics events, VetTixers sign up online to create an account here and be verified. Once the account is established, search UAB Athletics to make a ticket request.
UAB Athletics has already distributed over 300 tickets for the 2019 Salute to Service campaign and hopes to surpass the efforts from previous years. UAB men's basketball opens its home schedule with this Salute to Service event on Monday, November 11 against Alabama A&M at 7 p.m. Season tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by clicking here or by calling the UAB Athletics Ticket Office at 205-975-UAB1. Fans can also request more information on ticket options for the upcoming season here.
