Wood, Beyer Named to All-Conference Teams

DALLAS – A pair of UAB women's soccer players were recognized by Conference USA today as the league released their 2019 All-Conference teams. Junior defender Audria Wood and freshman goalkeeper Eve Beyer were named All-Conference Third Team. Beyer was also named to the All-Rookie Team.
"Audria is much deserving of this award as she helped anchor our backline," said head coach Erica Demers. "We truly saw her grow this past season and we will continue to look for her experience in our backline as we move forward and start preparing for next Fall."
Wood, who returned to the field after missing 15 games in 2018, started all 17 of the Blazers' contests this season. She helped UAB record seven shutouts this season, a GAA of 1.04. and played at least 90 minutes in 15 matches.
"We are very proud of Eve and our conference recognizing her as a freshman," added Demers. "We did not have the season we wanted in the attack, but Eve along with our backline did an exceptional job to keep us in each game. We are thrilled Eve is with us and excited to watch her continued growth over her next three years."
Beyer started 11 matches finished with a 4-3-4 record. She recorded three straight shutouts blanking Alabama State, Georgia State and Georgia Southern and went a span of 416 minutes without letting up a goal. Additionally, she recorded clean sheets against then-first place North Texas and Southern Miss. Her save percentage of .823 is the fifth-best single-season mark in program history and her goals against average of 0.93 is tied for fourth-best single-season all-time.
The duo joins Megan Hudgens and Natalie Presedo who were named First Team All-Academic and Second Team All-Academic respectively yesterday as UAB's postseason award winners.
