Blazer Baseball Wraps up 2020 Early Signing Period

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB baseball program and coach Brian Shoop have announced the official signing of eight future Blazers as part of the 2020 signing class. Following the individual announcements of each player, an overview of the well-regarded class is provided below.
"I would like to thank coach Perry Roth, our assistant head coach and recruiting coordinator, and coach Adam Revelette for the countless hours they put into recruiting again this year," said Shoop. "We are very pleased with and excited about these eight young men who have now joined our UAB baseball family and truly believe they will achieve great success both on the baseball diamond and in the classroom at UAB."

UAB Baseball Fall 2019 NLI Signees
- Carson Knight – Perfect Game rated him the No. 2 left-handed pitcher in state of Alabama. He's also an honor roll student.
- Joe Kiel – According to the staff, he's the best junior college catcher in Alabama. Kiel is also a Phi Theta Kappa honor student coming from Lawson State.
- Jake Killingsworth – The No. 4 rated catcher in Alabama by Perfect Game and also an honor roll student.
- Darryl Buggs –The No. 8 ranked outfielder in Georgia by Perfect Game. Buggs is also a right-handed pitcher.
- David Harris – He was an All-State Honorable Mention from Gardendale High School. Harris also played football for the Rockets.
- Nick Wright – He's a 2019 Pre-Season Perfect Game All American and a four-time Perfect Game All-Tournament selection. A Louisiana native, the right-handed pitcher's velocity can reach the 90s.
- Tyler Bell – He participated in the ALABCA High School All Star Event in each of the past two seasons. Bell was also a member of Team Alabama in the 2019.
- Jake Rivers – He earned Second Team Class 7A All-State, First Team All-County, was a 2019 Team Alabama participant and led the team in hitting. Rivers also excelled in the classroom, scoring a 33 on his ACT.
