No. 19 UAB Travels to Greensboro for Vern Stallings Invitational

BIRMINGHAM- The No. 19 UAB bowling team returns to the lanes this weekend when it travels to Greensboro, N.C. for the Vern Stallings Invitational hosted by North Carolina A&T.
The tournament will follow the format of five Baker games on Friday, five Traditional games on Saturday and one Traditional game followed by a best-of-seven bracket-round match on Sunday.
UAB is one of seven ranked teams in the field this weekend, including No. 7 Maryland Eastern Shore, No. 8 North Carolina A&T, No. 13 Lincoln Memorial, No. 15 Delaware State, No. 17 Louisiana Tech, and No. 21 Mount Saint Mary's.
This will be the Blazers' first appearance at the Stallings Invitational as they look to leave a lasting impression on the competition this weekend. UAB has impressive wins over Maryland Eastern Shore and Louisiana Tech this season.
The Blazers posted a 5-5 record in their last match to finish in eighth place at MEAC #1. Individually, Taylor Russell would lead the way with a total pinfall of 1,138 to finish in 11th place. Jamie Krasnigor (1,089) and Samantha Johnson (1,056) finished in 15th and 23rd, respectively, to finish the Blazers in the top 25 individually.
Competing for UAB this weekend in the Stallings Invitational will be Taylor Russell, Rachel Strogin, Annie Hurley, Elise London, Samantha Johnson, Cameron Snyder, Cayla Davidson, Jamie Krasnigor and Katie Hurley.
UAB finishes its fall portion of the season after this event. The Blazers will continue their schedule on Feb. 7 for the Wildcat Classic in Orlando, Fla. hosted by Bethune-Cookman.
