Women’s Golf to Participate in Battle at the Beach in Cabo

BIRMINGHAM - The UAB women's golf team is set to participate in its final tournament of the fall at The Battle at the Beach, hosted by TCU in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico.
The Blazers are one of 16 teams participating in the tournament, along with Augusta, Denver, Indianapolis, Iowa, Kansas State, LSU, Missouri, Nebraska, No. 13 Ole Miss, San Jose, TCU, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech.
UAB will be paired with Kansas State, Virginia Tech and Augusta in the first round.
Head Coach Ryan Ashburn will field a team consisting of seniors Tia Teiniketo and Kenna Hughes, sophomores Caroline Waldrop and Chiara Vikkula and freshman Shelly Chen.
Teiniketo looks to round out her phenomenal fall season on a high note. The Vihti, Finland native has moved up to No. 122 in the golfstat.com rankings and is carrying a stroke average of 71.93.
She has finished top 10 in all four tournaments this season and has not placed below seventh in any of those four.
