BIRMINGHAM- UAB extended its home unbeaten streak to three games after drawing even with Lipscomb on Tuesday night.
The Blazers got off to another slow start falling behind 1-0 in the first half before scoring the equalizer in the 74th minute.
Lipscomb (3-8-2) struck first in the 10th minute when Noah Gulden scored off a give and go from Malik Shaheed putting the ball in the top left corner. Lipscomb would hold the lead going into halftime, outshooting the Blazers 7-6 in the first 45 minutes.
UAB (3-9-2) saw a few close opportunities in the first half but could not find an equalizer before going into the locker room.
The Bison's lead was kept to one thanks to a save by Julian Mehl in the 70th minute and some help from the post just a few seconds later.
In the 74th minute of the second half UAB found the equalizer as Kevin Wallace headed in a cross from Sumner Richardson off a corner kick. The goal was the first off of a set piece for the Blazers this season.
In the final seconds of regulation Donovan Watson went down on a foul setting up a free kick from 30 yards out with four seconds remaining on the clock. Aodhán O'Hara lined up the ball for a free kick which just sailed over the crossbar as time expired sending the game into overtime.
Neither team managed to get a shot off in the first overtime period forcing a second 10-minute overtime.
In the closing seconds of the second overtime Watson was fouled again setting up another free kick, this time with 34 seconds on the clock. Teodor Thorvaldsen sent a cross to the far post connecting with DJ Benton who headed the ball wide of the net ending the game in a draw.
"The guys deserve credit for fighting back and giving us a chance to win the match," said head coach Jeff Kinney. "We need to have better starts moving forward. Slow starts have caused us issues in these last few matches."
The Blazers out-shot the Bison 12-10 on the night and did not give up a shot in either overtime period.
UAB is off this weekend and will return to action on Oct. 29 when the Blazers travel to Atlanta to take on Georgia State.
