BIRMINGHAM – After almost two months off, the UAB rifle team returns to the range on Friday and Saturday when it treks to North Georgia and UT-Martin, respectively.
"I am very excited to begin competing again," head coach Lori Goodwin said. "We have had a productive time off, but it is time to lock back in and continue our strong season."
Michael Dietz has been the strongest competitor on the squad thus far, boasting a 584.0 Air Rifle average and a 571.0 average in Smallbore. The freshman was tabbed the SoCon Smallbore shooter of the month in October and has led the Green and Gold in every match this season.
North Georgia is coming off of its sixth consecutive Georgia State Title, defeating Georgia Southern and Georgia Military in the annual state competition. Ricky Medina finished second individually in the state tournament.
UT-Martin opens its spring season by hosting UAB as one of just three events it will compete in this weekend. Kaitlin Korinek has been the most consistent shooter in the Skyhawks' lineup, pacing the squad in Air Rifle in all six fall matches.
Live results will be available for both matches on Megalink.
