UAB Football to Participate in Extra Yard for Teachers

BIRMINGHAM - The fourth annual Extra Yard for Teachers Week supported by the College Football Playoff Foundation takes place Sept. 15-22. Extra Yard for Teachers Week is an annual salute to teachers in recognition of their hard work and dedication. Extra Yard for Teachers is the primary platform of the College Football Playoff Foundation whose mission is to elevate the teaching profession by inspiring and empowering teachers.
On Saturday, Sept. 15 UAB Football hosts Tulane at Legion Field and will join in the recognition of area educators. As a part of the efforts, the Blazers will wear special helmet decals and share their stories about their favorite educators during the week. A special discounted ticket is also available for use with the promotion code EDUCATION.
UAB Athletics will award area educators, including student teachers, with the distribution of gifts provided by Conference USA and the College Football Playoff. One hundred area educators will receive $100 gift cards courtesy of Conference USA Extra Yard for Teachers initiative to help outfit their classrooms and one area educators will receive a $500 award for their classroom needs via Donors Choose.
UAB Athletics is hosting a contest to award one area educator with a $500 contribution towards their DonorsChoose.org project. To apply, educators should submit the name of their project with the link to their DonorsChoose.org page to sportspromo@uab.edu. The deadline to submit an entry is 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10. The winner will be notified and will receive the award on field during game against the Green Wave on Saturday, Sept. 15.
Tickets for the game versus Tulane are available for just $20. Educators can receive special ticket price when ordering online with the promo code EDUCATION.
