MOBILE, Ala. – Senior Maria Donado of the UAB women's golf team shot even par today and remains in the top 10 of the USA Intercollegiate heading into Monday's final round at RTJ Magnolia Grove Crossing Course.
After carding a -1 yesterday, Donado shot an even par 72 on Sunday and is tied for 10th heading into the final round in Mobile. She had four birdies and four bogeys in her second round.
Despite playing as an individual, Kenna Hughes posted her second-consecutive round of +1 and is currently tied for 24th at +2 overall.
Newcomer Kendall Johnson carded a +3 this morning and is currently five-over and in a tie for 41st place overall. Junior Tia Teiniketo and freshman Lexie Dawson were also +3 on Sunday as Teiniketo is tied for 49th overall (+7), while Dawson is tied for 67th (+10).
Stephenie Fowler rounded out UAB's efforts today with a seven-over and is tied for 82nd overall.
"Our goal is to get a little better each day and that is what we did today," said head coach Ryan Ashburn. "We started out a little rough but the girls were able to grind it out on the back nine for a decent score. We have one more day to go low and that is our plan."
The Blazers were nine-over collectively and enter Monday's final round at +21 as a team. The entire field will be trying to catch South Florida who leads at even par. Individually, Hanna Kiefer of Stetson remains the leader in the club house at -8.
