Hicklen and Legends Win South Atlantic League Championship

LAKEWOOD, N.J. – Former UAB standout and current Lexington Legends outfielder Brewer Hicklen helped guide the Legends to South Atlantic League Championship with a 2-1 win Friday night over the Lakewood BlueClaws.
It was the Legends' first South Atlantic League Title since 2001 and the first professional title of Hicklen's career.
With the game tied at 1-1, Hicklen drew a leadoff walk in the top of the ninth inning before a hit-and-run single moved him to third before a sacrifice fly to right field plated Hicklen to give the Legends their winning run.
Hicklen finished the four-game championship series with three hits, two runs scored and four RBI.
Wrapping up his first full professional season in Lexington, Hicklen hit .307 with 94 hits, 59 runs, 18 doubles, three triples, 17 home runs, 65 RBI and 29 stolen bases.
Hicklen became the highest draftee in UAB history when he was taken with the 210th overall pick in the seventh round by the Kansas City Royals in 2017.
