BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – UAB head baseball coach Brian Shoop announced the hiring of Adam Revelette as the new pitching coach on Thursday.
Revelette comes to Birmingham after having spent the previous three seasons at Eastern Kentucky.
"After a nationwide search we are thrilled to announce Adam Revelette as our new pitching coach," Shoop said. "Adam has done a great job at Eastern Kentucky, Baylor and Transylvania and I have full confidence that our pitchers will continue to improve under his leadership. Adam will also expand our geographical recruiting base as he has established connections in Texas and Kentucky."
In his three years at EKU, Revelette helped the Colonels set the school record for strikeouts in a season with 504 in 2018, while also setting the program record for punchouts per 9 innings.
Revelette's staff helped EKU to three consecutive 20+ win seasons, including 30 in 2018, and a trip to the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament semi-finals.
Before arriving at EKU, Revelette spent three years at Baylor where he joined as the Director of Operations in 2012, before spending the 2014 season as the hitting and outfield coach. In 2015, he transitioned into the Bears' pitching coach.
Prior to his time in Waco, he spent the 2011 and 2012 seasons as an assistant coach at Transylvania University. Additionally, he spent three summers as the general manager and assistant coach of the Lexington Hustlers in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League where he coached nine future MLB Draft picks and 11 league all-stars.
"Adam comes with tremendous recommendations from people that I have known for a long time and fully trust, including Keith Madison, the former head coach at Kentucky, Steve Smith, the former Baylor head coach and current pitching coach at Auburn, Edwin Thompson, the head coach at Eastern Kentucky, Gary Henderson, Adam's pitching coach at Kentucky and John Cohen, my former player and Mississippi State Athletic Director," Shoop said.
Revelette began his collegiate playing career at Dayton before transferring to Kentucky for the 2005 and 2006 seasons. In 2006, under the pitching instruction of Gary Henderson, he helped the Wildcats to the SEC Championship.
Following his career at Kentucky, Revelette played four seasons of professional baseball from 2006-09 with the Minnesota Twins organization and in the Frontier League.
Revelette earned his undergraduate degree in communications from Kentucky in 2007 and completed his master's degree in applied management at Indiana Wesleyan in 2013. A Lexington, Ky., native, he is married to the former Maggie Etheredge. The couple has two young children, Nolan and Mary Gwen.
"Adam reminds me a lot of my great friend and longtime pitching coach Josh Hopper," Shoop said. "I believe that our pitchers will find the transition about as smooth as it could be. I cannot wait for our guys to meet him and I know that the entire UAB community will love having Adam and his family join our Blazer family."
