BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Down 3-2 with two courts to be contested, the UAB men's tennis team saw clutch wins from Tim Dollman and Kenton Parton to come from behind and defeat South Alabama, 4-3, in its final road match of the season on Sunday.

The Blazers (12-9, 0-5) finished the year with three wins away from Birmingham, their most road victories since winning five during the 2015-16 season.

UAB got off to a quick start in doubles play as Anru Fourie and Parton cruised to a 6-1 win in doubles play over their South Alabama counterparts. After falling on Court 1, Henry Paiste and Nikolai Manchev squeaked out a 7-6(4) win on Court 2 to claim the doubles point and give the Blazers a 1-0 lead.

After dropping the first two singles matches of the day, Manchev again came through for UAB, using a 6-4, 6-3 win over Lucas Gonzalez in the five hole to knot the overall match up at 2-2.

The pressure was increased on the Blazers as Giovani Pasini dropped a tough three-set decision in the six spot with two singles matches to play.

However, the Blazers' best singles player, Tim Dollman, came through in the next match with a 7-6, 5-7, 7-6(3) thriller on Court 1 to tie the match up at 3-3 with only Court 4 still in play.

With the match on the line and the final match tied up at one-set apiece, Parton dug deep and cruised to a 6-2 final set victory over Olivier Gingras to clinch the 4-3 victory for the Blazers.

UAB will look to seal its perfect home season on April 14 when the Blazers hosts Conference USA foe Southern Miss at the UAB Tennis Courts for the final regular season match of the season. First serve is set for noon and is free to the public.
