UAB Celebrates 73 Student-Athlete Spring Graduates

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB Department of Athletics would like to congratulate the 73 student-athletes that graduated this weekend as part of UAB's Class of 2018.
Among the graduates are some of the most prominent student-athletes to ever don the Green and Gold, along with award winners in the classroom.
"We are extremely proud to have 73 student-athletes graduate this Spring and move on to the next phase of their lives," Director of Athletics Mark Ingram said. "These student-athletes have been instrumental in helping the Department of Athletics achieve record-setting academic success while balancing the high demands of athletics. We wish each and every one of them all the best as they move on and represent UAB in the work force."
Among the many athletic and academic honors, two student-athletes were specifically recognized by their programs for their academic excellence.
Haley Jared and Emily Martinez, both of which played indoor and beach volleyball, graduated with extremely high honors. An Electric Engineering major, Jared graduated with a 3.89 GPA and was named the Outstanding Electrical and Computer Engineering Student of the Year at UAB.
Martinez graduated with a 3.94 GPA in Accounting and was recognized by the Financial Executives International (FEI) as the Most Outstanding Accounting Student at UAB. She graduated in three years and is pursuing her Master's in Accounting this fall at UAB.
