BBVA Compass Field Expansion Celebration Set for May 9

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB Department of Athletics, along with BBVA Compass and Birmingham Legion FC, will host a stadium expansion celebration at BBVA Compass Field on Wednesday, May 9 at 12 p.m.
Major upgrades to BBVA Compass Field have already begun and will include a 4,000-seat grandstand, a 20x40 video board, a permanent ticket office, concessions stand and permanent restrooms, along with space for food trucks and hospitality tents.
The facility upgrades come in conjunction with a partnership between UAB and the Birmingham Legion Football Club to house its USL professional soccer team at BBVA Compass Field on the UAB campus.
Along with comments from UAB Director of Athletics Mark Ingram, guest speakers will include UAB President Dr. Ray Watts, BBVA Compass President and CEO Onur Genç, BBVA Compass Birmingham Market CEO Andrea Smith and Birmingham Legion FC President Jay Heaps.
