Blazers Drop 16 Strokes On Day Two

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The UAB women's golf team shaved an impressive 16 strokes off its day one score and sits in 12th after the second round of the Conference USA Championship held Tuesday at The Verandah Club.
The team saw a complete turnaround after the first 18 holes as Maria Donado and Juliana Sebastian opened their first nine holes even par.
"Today was a better day," head coach Kim Wilcox said. "I'm hoping for a better tomorrow."
Donado made an 11 spot move up the leaderboard as she fired a 75 (+3) in the second round. After making the turn at even par, the junior dropped to one-under with a birdie on her 10th hole before slips on 13 and 15 took her to three-over and has her in a tie for 45th heading into the final round.
Sydney Snodgrass remained in a tie for 48th cutting three strokes off her day-one total. Snodrass finished her round strong shooting one-under on the back nine to card a 78 (+6).
Kenna Hughes dropped a shot on day two shooting an 81 and is in 51st going into the final 18.
Sebastian moved five spots up the leaderboard and is tied for 54th going into the final round. The senior carded four birdies in route to a 76 (+4).
Kayla Wilbourn rounded out the Blazers' lineup with a second round 81 (+9) and is tied for 54th going into her final collegiate round.
There's a two-way tie at the top of the leaderboard as UTSA's Julie Houston and Ana Gonzalez hold the top spot at one-under par.
UTSA also continues to lead the team competition after a four-over 292 in the second round. Old Dominion is just four strokes behind the Roadrunners heading into the final round of play.
