BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB beach volleyball team concludes the regular season this Friday and Saturday with two matches in Miami vs. CCSA opponent No. 10 FIU.
The Blazers (8-9, 1-4 CCSA) and the Panthers will square off with one match each on Friday and Saturday at 1 p.m. This will be the third fourth all-time meetings between the two teams.
"Playing FIU in the final week of the regular season is great preparation for what we will see one week from now at the CCSA Tournament," head coach Kyra Iannone said. "We want to be playing our best volleyball at the end of the season and it starts with FIU this weekend before we begin postseason play."
This is the final tune up for the Blazers before heading to the CCSA Tournament next weekend in Emerson, Ga. The tournament will feature two pods of five teams each playing a round-robin. The top two teams from each pod will move on to the single-elimination semifinal and final round.
UAB's top tandem of Kenley Adams and Devon May continue to lead the Blazers as the duo is ranked No. 24 nationally according to collegebeachvb.com. The pair is 9-6 together and has defeated nationally ranked teams Tulane and South Carolina.
FIU is 18-8 overall and 5-3 in CCSA action. The Panthers' top duo of Federica Frasca and Margherita Bianchin are 22-3 overall and ranked No. 4 nationally.
