UAB Battles Course Conditions On Day One In Georgia

STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. – With temperatures in the mid-50s and rain, the UAB women's golf team sits in 13th overall after an opening round 324 at the John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate.
"Maria and Sydney played well today and fought hard amongst tough course conditions," head coach Kim Wilcox said. "The team battled hard through the cold wind and rain."
Maria Donado paced the Blazers with a 75 (+3) in the first round. The reigning Conference USA Golfer of the Week carded a one under 35 on her first nine to sit in a five-way tie for ninth and is just four strokes behind the leader.
Sydney Snodgrass is one-stroke behind Donado in a tie for 14th. The senior completed her 100th career round with an opening 18 76 (+4).
Juliana Sebastian, Stephenie Fowler and Kenna Hughes rounded out the UAB lineup shooting rounds of 86, 87 and 89 respectively.
Jacksonville leads the tournament after starting off the tournament with a first-round 299 (+11).
UAB begins the second round on Monday morning teeing off of the 10th hole at 8:15 a.m. CT. Live scoring will be provided through Golf Stat.
