SMYRNA, Tenn. – The No. 14 UAB bowling team rocked out to a 4-1 record on day one and sits in 16th place overall after the first round of the Columbia 300 Music City Classic.
"Overall we had a decent day," head coach Michelle Crews said. "Nothing too great and too bad. We really struggles to find a rhythm and gain some momentum early, but found our way the last half of the day. All things considered, to go 4-1 and be 16th overall is not too bad. We will look to get off to a better start in the morning and move as high as we can in the standings."
The Blazers opened the day with a 915-858 win over Southern before dropping game two to No. 5 Sam Houston State 1,005-855.
After the loss, UAB rattled off three consecutive wins beginning with a gritty 918-916 victory over Youngstown State. Game four was a 986-947 win over Wisconsin-Whitewater and the Green and Gold closed the day with a 933-764 win over Lincoln.
Day two features teams bowling five Traditional games beginning at 9:30 a.m. UAB will take on Jackson State in game one.
No. 2 McKendree leads the tournament turning in a perfect 5-0 record on the first day of competition.
