UAB to Finish Three-Match Road Trip at Bethune-Cookman

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB men's tennis team's run in the sun continues on Friday as the Blazers head to Daytona Beach to play Bethune-Cookman at 10 a.m. at the City Island Tennis Courts.
UAB (8-6, 0-2) is looking to claim its second road win of the season after taking down Florida Gulf Coast, 4-3, on Tuesday, a team who was previously undefeated at home.
The Blazers handled FGCU thanks to four straight singles wins. Tim Dollman continued his stellar sophomore campaign by notching his 10th win of the season, cruising 6-3, 6-0, and surpassing his win total from his record-setting freshman season.
Senior Stefan Gonzalez picked up a similarly resounding victory, 6-3, 6-1, before junior Kenton Parton extended the Blazers' lead to 3-1 winning 6-4, 6-3 on Court 4. Giovani Pasini then clinched the match, winning his fifth match in a row on Court 5, 7-6, 6-3 to secure the win.
Dollman and Gonzalez also extended their team-leading doubles record to 8-3 by delivering the Blazers' only win in doubles play on the day, 6-1.
Bethune-Cookman (3-6, 2-0) are 1-5 at home this season and lost their match on Tuesday to George Washington. Juan Navarro is unbeaten in singles, and Phillip Lynch has won four straight singles matches for the Wildcats.
The two programs last faced off on March 23, 2014, with the Blazers emerging victorious, 6-0, in Daytona Beach.
