BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Four-straight singles wins proved to be the difference on Tuesday night as the UAB men's tennis team claimed its first road win of 2018 with a 4-3 decision over Florida Gulf Coast at the FGCU Tennis Complex.

The Blazers (8-6, 0-2) are now 4-0 in matches that finish 4-3, while it marks their first victory outside of Birmingham since defeating Southern Miss 4-2 in Hattiesburg on March 12, 2017.

Sophomore Tim Dollman got things started for UAB in singles play, cruising past Felipe Ramirez 6-3, 6-0 to knot the match up at 1-1. The win improved him to 10-2 on the year in singles play, surpassing his win total from his record-setting freshman campaign when he won nine matches.

Dollman also claimed the Blazers' only win in singles play with Stefan Gonzalez, topping Oliver Landert and Marcelo Tebet, 6-1. The pair is now 8-3 on the year, leading the team.

Gonzalez then put the Blazers ahead in the match with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Ezequiel Cerrini to build some momentum. Kenton Parton pulled UAB within one point of clinching the match, defeating Marcelo Tebet 6-4, 6-3 on Court 4 to put the Blazers up 3-1.

With the match on the line, Giovani Pasini battled through a tough first set with a 7-6 win before winning the decisive point by taking set two, 6-3. Pasini is now 5-1 on Court 5, including wins in his last five matches.

The Blazers return to action on Friday when they close out a three-match road trip in the state of Florida with a date with Bethune-Cookman. First serve is set for 10 a.m.
