BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB men's tennis team is packing up its rackets and hitting the road again this weekend for matches against Drake University, Illinois State University, George Washington University and the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Drake's Roger Knapp Tennis Center in Des Moines, Iowa will host a double header when UAB (3-3, 0-1) takes on Drake at 10 a.m. and then Illinois State at 2 p.m. on Friday. Saturday's matches are slated for 10 a.m. against George Washington and 6 p.m. against Nebraska at Omaha.
The Blazers will look to stay hot after winning their last three matches, sweeping Alabama-Huntsville, 6-1 and 6-1, and shutting out North Alabama, 7-0.
Sophomore Tim Dollman has enjoyed a dominant start to the season in the number one slot for UAB. He only dropped two games in four sets against UAH, going 6-2, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-0, before easily handling his singles opponent from UNA 6-2, 6-1 to improve to 4-1 on the year.
Doubles pairings of Anru Fourie and Kenton Parton and Henry Paiste and Nikolai Manchev look to continue their own winning streaks after each pairing earned victories against both North Alabama and Alabama-Huntsville. UAB is now 3-4 on the year in doubles play, with its other win coming in the first match of the season against No. 14 Mississippi State.
Drake have been quite successful protecting their home court this season, going 6-2 at home on their way to a 7-4 overall record. UAB last played Drake in March 2011, falling 5-2.
Illinois State are riding the same wave as the Blazers after finishing a recent home stand 4-0 to bring their season record up to 4-2.
George Washington head to Des Moines looking to right the ship after starting the season 0-7, while Nebraska at Omaha have pulled their overall record up to 4-6 following a recent three match winning streak.
Live results for all four matches will be provided by Drake University and can be found here.
