UAB Picked to Win Conference USA in 2018-19 Preseason Poll

IRVING, Texas – With four starters returning from last year's C-USA Championship team, the UAB women's basketball team has been picked to finish in first place in Conference USA for the 2018-19 season, as announced by the league office on Wednesday.
This marks the first time that UAB has been tabbed preseason favorites since the league began keeping records in 2005.
"We are truly humbled to have been chosen to win C-USA," head coach Randy Norton said. "This is an extremely competitive league with so many outstanding players and is coached by some of the best coaches in the country. Our players realize they have to be ready to give their absolute best every night out to be successful in this conference. Our effort, energy and attitude, along with being a great teammate, are things that will allow us to perform consistently at a high level."
UAB is coming off a season in which it won the first C-USA regular season title in program history, while also advancing to the second round of the WNIT. The Blazers set multiple program records last season, wins (27), C-USA wins (13), 3-point field goals made (267), 3-point field goal percentage (.376) and assists (590).

Fans can get their first look at the 2018-19 team and honor last season's squad at the Hoops Tipoff Event on Thursday Oct. 18. The championship banner will be revealed at halftime of the men's exhibition game against Georgia.
Season tickets to all 16 of the Blazers' home game can be purchased for $65. By purchasing a season ticket, fans will receive admission into every home men's soccer, women's soccer, volleyball, baseball and softball game for the entire 2018-19 season.
