Women’s Golf Places Eighth at Maryb S. Kauth Invitational

SAN ANTONIO - Led by junior Kendall Johnson, the UAB women's golf team placed eighth at the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational hosted by UTSA at TPC San Antonio, AT&T Canyon Course.
After Monday's second round was rained out, the Blazers and the rest of the field took to the course on Tuesday to finish the tournament and ultimately only played 36 holes.
Johnson finished tied for 14th overall and moved up 19 spots in the final round by shooting a two-over 74. She finished the tournament at +6 overall (76-74 = 150). Only three players for the entire tournament were under par.
Tia Teiniketo and Maria Donado were both +10 for the tournament and finished tied for 28th overall. Teiniketo had the team's opening round low score with a 75, while Donado shot a 75 on Tuesday.
Stephenie Fowler and Kenna Hughes rounded our UAB's efforts in 48th and 51st place, respectively. Lexie Dawson, who played as an individual, tied for 44th overall.
TCU (+5) won the tournament, followed by Marshall (+12), Tennessee (+13), Houston (+23) and UTSA (+28). Shelby Brauckmuller of Marshall won the individual title at -1.
The Blazers return to action this coming Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 20-21, at the Cardinal Cup hosted by the University of Louisville.
