Baseball Announces 2018 Slate

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Highlighted by 31 home games with 22 at Regions Field, the UAB baseball team has released its 2018 schedule, head coach Brian Shoop announced Monday.
UAB returns 21 players from a season ago including infielders Carter Pharis and Antonio Ralat who both started 54 games in 2017. Pharis hit .305 with 15 doubles and 30 RBI, while Ralat hit three home runs and was a perfect 6-of-6 on stolen base attempts.
Opening weekend is set for Feb. 16-18 when the Blazers welcome Bowling Green to Regions Field. UAB then plays a home-and-home against Alabama State (Feb. 20-21) before playing its first road series at Arkansas State (Feb. 23-25). The opening month closes with two mid-week games at home against Jacksonville State (Feb. 27) and then at Troy (Feb. 28)
March is highlighted with eight consecutive home games beginning with Iowa (March 2-3) followed by a mid-week contest against Auburn (March 6). The Blazers close their non-conference series when they welcome Milwaukee (March 9-11). Troy closes the home stand on March 13.
UAB opens Conference USA play at Marshall (March 16-18) before returning home for another home stand opening with Alabama (March 20), followed by LA Tech (March 23-25) and closing with Samford (March 27). The Blazers wrap up the month at Charlotte (March 29-31).
April begins with a special game against the Birmingham Barons, the Double-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, on April 3 at Regions Field. April 4 marks the first game of the season at Young Memorial Field when Alabama A&M comes to Birmingham. The first series at Young Memorial is set for April 6-8 against FIU.
The Blazers continue the month at Alabama (April 10) and travels to Norfolk, Va. to take on Old Dominion (April 13-15). The five-game road swing closes at Auburn (April 17).
WKU comes to Birmingham for a three-game home stint (April 20-22) and the Blazers hit the road again (April 27-29) as they travek to Boca Raton to face on Florida Atlantic.
UAB starts the month of May at Samford (May 1) and then welcomes 2017 NCAA Tournament participant Southern Miss to Young Memorial Field (May 4-6). UAB hits the road for the final time as it heads to Rice (May 11-13) and Jacksonville State (May 15). The regular season closes May 17-19 when UAB welcomes Middle Tennessee for Senior Weekend.
The Conference USA Tournament is set for May 23-27 in Biloxi, Miss., with NCAA Regionals being played June 1-3, Super Regionals June 8-11 and the College World Series (June 16-26).
Gold Card
For tickets, UAB fans have the opportunity to purchase a Gold Card which allows access to six different sports, including baseball, softball and women's basketball throughout the upcoming season.
A single admission Gold Card is $65, while a dual admission card can be purchased for $120, admission for three is $165, and a 4-pack of Gold Cards is $200. Fans who purchase a Gold Card will be given a membership card they show to gain admission into each specific event. Fans can purchase a Gold Card at the UAB Athletics Ticket Office located at Bartow Arena, or by calling 205-975-UAB1.
