BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – UAB volleyball falls in straight sets to UT Martin (19-25, 20-25, 21-25) in Game 1 of the Dunn Hospitality Invitational.
UAB had 33 kills through the three sets and were led in that category by Erika Zembyla who recorded 10 in the match. The Blazers struggled to hit accurately all night only hitting .144. Kenley Adams again led the Blazers in assists racking up 25.
UT Martin (3-5) hit .290 in the first set, .300 in the second and .229 in the third and cruised through the match only committing 15 errors. Megan Fair led the Skyhawks in kills with 11.
UAB (3-6) will play twice on Saturday taking on host Evansville at 12:30 p.m. CT and then wrapping up the tournament against the Indiana Hoosiers at 4 p.m. CT.
The green and gold will return home on Sept. 15 for the Fight Like Hal Memorial Tournament. The tournament will run Sept. 15-16.
