UAB Finishes Ahead Of Rival Middle Tennessee At Greater Louisville Classic

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – UAB cross country finishes in the middle of the pack at the Greater Louisville Classic in 25th but once again finishes ahead of conference rival Middle Tennessee.

Blazer Highlights:

After Middle Tennessee was picked ahead of UAB in the Conference USA preseason poll, the Blazers have now finished ahead of the Blue Raiders twice this season. The Green and Gold beat Middle Tennessee in the season's opening race at the Brooks Memphis Twilight in the teams other head-to-head matchup.
Rebecca Evans again led the way for the Blazers as she ran sub 18 minutes with a time of 17:43.34.
Emily Drouin and Sarah Livett also continued strong 2017 campaigns as they too finished with sub 18 times. Drouin ran the course at EP "Tom" Sawyer Park in 17:51.78 while Livett was hot on her teammates heels with a time of 17:51.95.

"Overall a solid day. Rebecca, Emily and Sarah continued their impressive senior campaigns," head coach Matt Esche said. "Truly big performances. As a whole, we fought extremely well and I was very happy with our focus and concentration on the course. We have a gap to close between three and four and we will work quickly to close that gap in the next two weeks."

"Beating conference rival Middle Tennessee for the second time this year was big as it shows we can be a top four team in Conference USA in a few weeks."

After two straight race weekends, UAB will take a week off from competition before heading to Tuscaloosa, Ala. for the Crimson Classic on Friday, Oct. 13th.
