Ruggles Selected to VBL All-Star Game

The left-handed pitcher is the second Blazer to be honored this week
HARRISONBURG, Va. – The UAB baseball team had its second player named to a summer league all-star game this week. Ryan Ruggles was selected to the Valley Baseball League (VBL) All-Star Game to be played this Sunday, July 9. The game will be played at Eagles Field at Veterans Memorial Park on the campus of James Madison with first pitch at 7:30 p.m.
Ruggles was named to the North roster for his play on the Front Royal Cardinals. The left-hander is the league leader in innings pitched (32.2) and is top 12 in ERA (3.03), wins (three) and strikeouts (27).
The Sheffield, Ala., native just completed his junior season at UAB. Ruggles is nearing the UAB record book as he is 33 strikeouts (128) and five wins (12) from entering the top 10 in school history for each. He has made 53 career appearances with 31 starts across 166.2 innings while holding a 12-10 record.
