BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB baseball team will be well represented across the country in summer leagues this season. The Blazers are sending 13 players to play for a number of notable teams as they look to improve their game.
Tanner Graham, Carter Pharis and Antonio Ralat will each head to play in the Cape Cod League, largely considered the best summer league in the nation. Graham and Pharis will be teammates on the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox while Ralat will play for the Chatham Anglers. The trio will also see a familiar face when they play the Hyannis Harbor Hawks, as UAB volunteer assistant coach Ron Polk is also on the coaching staff for Hyannis.
Four members of the Green & Gold will remain together on the Lima Locos in the Great Lakes League. Stephen Dobbs, Isaiah Gonzales-Montoya, Jared Nixon and Tyler Tolbert are the quartet heading to Ohio to play for the Locos.
The So Cal Catch of the California League will have a pair of Blazers in Zack Davis and Jim Jeffries, while Price Visintainer will also be in the league donning a San Luis Obispo jersey.
Thomas Johns and Ryan Ruggles will each spend the summer playing for the Front Royal Cardinals in the Valley Baseball League in the state of Virginia. The final Blazer playing over the summer is Luke Eigsti as he will be a member of the Dodge City Athletics in the Jayhawk League in Kansas.
