IRVING, Texas – A total of 2,851 student-athletes, including 218 from UAB, have earned recognition to the Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll during the 2016-17 academic year, league Commissioner Judy MacLeod announced Thursday.
Student-athletes named to the Commissioner’s Honor Roll maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better.
Football placed the highest number of student-athletes of the 218 produced by UAB, finishing with 31 individuals earning the distinction. Softball followed with 23, while women’s soccer ranked a close third with 22 student-athletes on the list.
“I am extremely proud of our student-athletes who have achieved the C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll this year,” UAB Associate Athletics Director/Student-Athlete Services Fernandez West said. “This is a testament to their high academic standards, hard work and dedication. It is also a testament to our coaches, faculty, staff and administration who demand excellence from them on and off the field.”
Student-athletes with a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or better also receive the Commissioner’s Academic Medal. Those recipients will be released tomorrow.
