UAB Athletics Hosts First Annual Green and Golden Globes

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB Department of Athletics, in conjunction with UAB Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted the first annual Green and Golden Globes on Monday night at the National Alumni House.
The Green and Golden Globes banquet honored the year that was for UAB Athletics by presenting numerous awards to student-athletes, coaches and administrators.
Avei Logoleo of beach volleyball and Nick Norton of men’s basketball served emcees of the event.
“Tonight was an amazing event that wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work of our student-athletes on and off the court, especially our SAAC executive board,” said Caitlin Callaghan, Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Development and SAAC Coordinator. “I would especially like to thank Catherine Ragon for serving as our Division I Conference USA representative for the past two years, as well as Nick Norton and Avei Logoleo for emceeing a great night.”

Ignitor (Female): Rachael Childress – Women’s Basketball
Ignitor (Male): Massimo Ferrin – Men’s Soccer
Teammate of the Year (Female) – Marin Carter
Teammate of the Year (Male) – Lewis Sullivan
Highest Team GPA: Women’s Tennis
Flame on Courage: Lauren Capone – Track & Field
Head Coach of the Year: Michelle Crews – Bowling
Birmingham Team of the Year: Men’s Golf
Blazer Bowl: Softball
Mr. Blaze – Brewer Hicklen – Baseball and Football
Mrs. Blaze – Caitlin Attfield – Softball
