BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB men’s tennis team’s lineup was shaken due to injury as the Blazers fell to Winthrop 4-2 at the Lakeshore Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.
Doubles Action
Freshmen duo Tim Dollman and Stefan Gonzalez gave UAB a 1-0 edge in doubles action, their fifth doubles win this season, with a 6-3 win on court two over the Eagles’ Teixeira/Pappayiannis. Kenton Parton and Anru Fourie secured the Blazers’ lead, 1-0, with a 6-4 win on court three.
Singles Action
Dollman was ruled out due to injury, shaking up the Blazers singles lineup. On court six, Giovani Pasini fell to WU’s Josh Ryan in two sets to knot the match up at one-all. Gonzlez secured his second point of the day with a two-set, 604,601 win on court three to give UAB back the lead, 2-1.
It wasn’t enough as UAB fell on court one, two and five, all in three sets, as Winthrop secured its first win on the season.
