No. 38 Rice Defeats UAB Men's Tennis

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The UAB men’s tennis team fell to No. 38 Rice in its first league match of the season at the Conference USA Shootout, hosted by Southern Miss.
The Blazers also faced ranked foe No. 28 South Alabama at home earlier this season.

Doubles
The Blazers earned a win on court two in doubles play thanks to seniors Christian Coetzee and Eric Komati. However, freshmen Tim Dollman and Stefan Gonzlez faced the nation’s No. 11 doubles tandem and fell 6-1. On court three, the Owls edged Anru Fourie and Kenton Parton, 6-4, to secure the doubles point.
Singles
The Blazers played in three three-set matches, but the Owls prevailed on courts one, four and six to capture the 4-0 win.
On court two, freshman Dollman fell down 1-0 in the first set, but forced a third set with a 6-3 win and was leading 4-2 in the third. On court five, Parton was also in his third set.
