UAB Men's Tennis Picks Up First League Win

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The UAB men’s tennis team earned its first Conference USA win of the season with a 4-2 victory over UTSA on Saturday morning at the C-USA Shootout, hosted by Southern Miss.

Doubles
Tim Dollman and picked up a 6-2 win over UTSA’s top tandem on court one to give the Blazers the advantage in doubles action. On court two, seniors Christian Coetzee and Eric Komati secured the point and the UAB lead, 1-0, with a 6-3 win over the Roadrunners.
Singles
Coetzee extended the Blazers lead to 2-0 with a win over UTSA on court four, 6-1, 6-3. Stefan Gonzalez earned his fourth win of the season on court three, 6-4, 6-1, to give UAB a 3-0 lead.
UTSA earned its first point of the day with a win over Komati on court two to cut the UAB lead to two, 3-1. On court six, the Roadrunners picked up its second consecutive point with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Tom El Safadi to cut the Blazers lead to 3-2.
Dollman secured the Blazers victory with a 7-6 (4), 6-3, win court one, 4-2.
On court five, Kenton Parton was in the middle of his third set, 3-6, 6-4, 4-3.
